Over the Thanksgiving weekend, while family was together, Nick’s aunt through us a baby shower. She really wanted to do this since most of Nick’s family could not be there for the baby showers we had when I was pregnant with Odin and because this time around we are having a baby girl. I also think part of it was because they love to get together and have a party and this was an excellent excuse to do that. They were all very generous with the gifts they gave and Nick and I are so thankful to them. I wanted to share what they got us incase this gives another pregnant mama some ideas of what they might want on their baby registry.
We received clothing from every one, literally. We got several outfits, footie pajamas, onesies, hats, socks and bibs. I wasn’t surprised by this because picking out baby clothes, especially little girls clothes, is so much fun. We already had a bit a clothing for baby girl but getting more doesn’t really hurt. We also got a ton of headbands for baby girl.
We receive 2 packs of receiving blankets. One from Nick’s cousin and another from Nick’s grandmother and aunt. We did not register for these but that is okay because when baby girl is little and new the are great for swaddling and as she grows out of them they make great back up burp clothes.
We did receive a lot of diapering items. We did not get any disposable diapers, which is fine since we are a cloth diapering family. We did however get 1 cloth diaper, a new diaper pail, a wet bad, a diaper sprayer and a diaper sprayer splatter shield. All of these items came off our Amazon baby registry and all of them were very much wanted and needed.
We also got a 4 pack of burp clothes, 1 WubbaNub pacifier and a My Brest Friend feeding pillow. The burp clothes were not on our registry but you can’t really have too many with babies. The WubbaNub was on our baby registry because I wanted to have a few different options of pacifiers for her. I know with Gray he had to have a Mam pacifier or he wasn’t taking it, so with baby girl I don’t want to assume that she will like what the other boys like. The My Brest Friend was also on our registry. With the boys I had a Boppy Nursing pillow but found that it flattened out over time so I wanted something more sturdy that wouldn’t change it’s shape.
We did get our car seat from Nick’s mother. We registered for the Britax B-Safe 35 Elite car seat in Concord. It is an expensive car seat and we were hoping someone would get it for us so when we received it we were so thankful. It was the most important thing to us since she will be in the car quite often to help me drop off and pick up her brothers from school. Nick’s mom also got us an extra car seat base so Nick could put it in his car.
The only gear we received was a white noise maker. We had a white noise maker for both the boys and it really made a difference when it came to getting them to sleep. We got the Graco Sweet Slumber Sound Machine. We wanted this one because when Odin was little his sound machine was part of his Graco Sweetpeace Swing and knew that the sounds Graco had were good for a sleepy baby.
